2020 Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz
Sparkling Shiraz is a unique Australian wine style, and former Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan was inspired to make a great sparkling wine from Barossa Shiraz in the 1980s.Â
Often referred to as the âJewel in our Crownâ our Black Queen Sparkling Shiraz is a unique and indulgent wine using 100% Barossa grapes. The 2020 was sourced from four long-term growers of premium Shiraz, Schrapel, Hampel, Gladigau and Grope planted in the Ebenezer and Light Pass district.
WINEMAKERS NOTES
Deep crimson in colour with red and purple hues. Lifted chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and a touch of Christmas cake. Soft supple and silky tannins, the wine is abundant in rich dark blue fruits with a lovely mouth filling generosity.
Gentle beading and delicate, soft moussing makes the palate luscious and seductive! A brooding, savoury dark chocolate backbone of flavour balanced with sweet perfumed oak notes leads to a great length of blackberry jam and satsuma plum conserve. The fruit sweetness is apparent, but balanced by the complexity of fruit-weight and time spent on tirage prior to disgorgement.
